Nio Breaks Sales Record, Next Target For Delivery Of 50,000 Units Per Month

JAKARTA The rising electric car manufacturer from China, Nio, is on the fast track. The company continues to show positive performance, including in terms of income which always increases from year to year.

Nio has just finished the second quarter with a positive trend. Seeing this brilliant performance, Nio also projected an ambitious target for the third and fourth quarters.

Reporting from the Carnewschina page, Wednesday, September 3, Nio targets shipments of between 87,000 and 91,000 units in the third quarter, with revenues reaching 21.81 billion yuan (around Rp46.1 trillion) to 22.88 billion yuan (around Rp48.4 trillion). This figure is a new record for the company.

More than that, Nio CEO William Li set a very aggressive target for the fourth quarter: 50,000 monthly shipments. This target will put Nio on par with other big players in China's new energy vehicle market, such as Leapmotor.

The target indicates total fourth-quarter shipments reached 150,000 vehicles, nearly double that of shipments in the second quarter.

Li explained that Nio's sales growth starting in the third quarter would be driven by the success of a multi-brand strategy. Nio wants to expand its market share in various vehicle segments.

He highlighted the high demand for new models, namely Onvo L90 and ES8.

The Onvo L90 model itself surpassed expectations with a record 10,575 shipments in its first month. L90's success also sparked increased demand for the L60 model.

Li calls the latest ES8 the most competitive three-line SUV in the high-end market. The ES8 pre-sales have started, and deliveries are scheduled for late September, following its official launch on NIO Day.

To meet soaring demand, Nio is working with its supply chain partners to increase production capacity.

Li predicts the monthly production capacity for Onvo L90 will reach 15,000 units by October, and for the ES8 it will reach 15,000 units by December. This increase is very important to achieve ambitious targets in the fourth quarter.

Nio doesn't stop here. The company plans to launch two new major SUVs under the Nio brand, namely ES9 and ES7, next year. In addition, the Onvo L80 model will also be delivered in 2026.

Li closes with optimism, "With these three new major SUV models, the company's product competitiveness will increase."
