Selling Well In China, Xiaomi Is Optimistic To Enter The European EV Market In 2027

JAKARTA - Xiaomi is increasingly proving itself as a serious new player in the world of electric vehicles. After recording great success through the debut of the SU7 model in China, the technology manufacturer from the Bamboo Curtain Country again received a positive response through the second model, YU7.

Now, Xiaomi's ambition is no longer limited to the domestic market. Citing a CNevpost report, Wednesday, August 20, Xiaomi officially announced expansion steps abroad by making Europe its first international market in 2027. This decision is a historic milestone because for the first time the company has set a global market target for its electric car line.

The big plan was revealed directly by Xiaomi President William Lu, in the latest earnings call. He emphasized that the company is in the research and intensive preparation stage to bring the Xiaomi EV brand into the global market.

In fact, the signal has been seen since MWC 2025 at Barcelona in March. In an interview with local media, Lu revealed Xiaomi EV's ambition to sell products abroad in 2027. Even on July 5, he briefly showed off a photo of the German-plated SU7 Ultra on his personal Weibo account. The car is said to be Xiaomi's first experimental unit to be officially registered in Europe.

Even so, Xiaomi's challenges in the domestic market are still large. The drastic demand has made production unable to compensate, so the waiting time for delivery now reaches 41 weeks for SU7 and even 58 weeks for YU7.

However, the sales figure remains astonishing. SU7 managed to overtake Tesla in China, with a total of more than 30,000 units sold in just three months (April 'June 2025). In April alone, Xiaomi was able to release 7,058 units of SU7, ahead of Tesla Model 3 which only recorded 5,065 units.

With brilliant achievements in the domestic market and grand plans to penetrate Europe, Xiaomi seems ready to establish itself as a new force in the global electric vehicle industry.
