JAKARTA - Chinese automotive manufacturer BYD has again made a breakthrough by updating their fifth generation DM (Dual Mode) hybrid technology.
This technology now only requires 2.6 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers when the battery is running out, recording fuel consumption savings of up to 10 percent compared to the previous version which was at 2.9 liters per 100 km.
CnEVPost reported on Tuesday, August 5, this increase in efficiency has been certified by the National Motor Vehicle Quality Inspection and Testing Center in Guangdong.

This update does not only apply to new cars, but can also be enjoyed by hybrid BYD vehicle owners who have been sold through software updates. This means that vehicle owners equipped with DM 5.0 technology do not need to bring their vehicles to dealers to get this upgrade.
For information, BYD officially launched fifth-generation DM technology, or DM 5.0, on May 28, 2024, presenting lower fuel consumption than its predecessor. The first models to use DM 5.0 technology are BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i.
With this latest increase in efficiency, BYD's position as the leader of hybrid technology in the global market is getting stronger, and is expected to boost their sales again amid intense competition.
Unfortunately, until now BYD has not presented a hybrid car line in the Indonesian market and still chooses to focus on pure electric models.
