TANGERANG - GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025's automotive exhibition was officially held for 11 days, starting from last Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, August 3. GIIAS 2025 is considered not just a vehicle exhibition, but national automotive industry support for the Indonesian government's vision of achieving net zero emissions (NZE) or net zero emissions by 2060.

"This event is part of a collaborative movement to support the transformation of the national transportation system in a greener, more efficient and sustainable direction," said the General Secretary of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) Kukuh Kumara at GIIAS 2025, ICE BSD City, Tangerang, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 29.

"This event also shows efforts to realize the transformation of the connected electric and autonomous mobility ecosystem so as to provide safer, environmentally friendly, and efficient transportation," Kukuh said at The 19th GAIKINDO International Automotive Conference (GIAC).

As a country that has expressed its commitment to the COP26 forum in Glasgow, England, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Indonesia is preparing a long-term roadmap for NZE.

"The transportation sector is one of the important pillars, together with the energy, agriculture, forestry, and land use sectors," said Kukuh.

According to him, the government has encouraged the use of renewable energy through various policies, including the development of electric vehicles, bioenergy fuels such as biodiesel and bioethenol, as well as environmentally friendly industrialization.

In this context, GIIAS became a strategic stage to socialize the direction of the policy to industry players and the community.

"It is very important to realize NZE's policy conditions with concrete collaboration between stakeholders, government policies, principal support, infrastructure availability, and energy. We hope that GIIAS can be a contribution to Indonesia's automotive industry in the future," he said.

By displaying innovation of electric vehicles, autonomous technology, and environmentally friendly connectivity solutions, GIIAS 2025 comes as a form of real synergy between industry and the government in responding to global climate change challenges.

This international event is expected to be a driver of the clean energy transition in the automotive sector, as well as strengthen Indonesia's position as a major player in the green economy in the Southeast Asia region.
