Nissan Strengthens Next Generation E-POWER Technology In Qashqai, Here's The Advantage

JAKARTA - Nissan has again made a breakthrough in the automotive industry by introducing the latest generation of e-POWER systems which are then embedded in Qashqai.

The e-POWER system is developed to provide an electric driving experience without the need to charge it by combining smooth and easy EV acceleration and refinement with the daily comfort of conventional combustion power.

According to the manufacturer, the latest e-POWER has been thoroughly redesigned for better fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and higher improvements.

In addition, this electrification drive will also further facilitate the transition from fuel to zero emissions and its performance will almost match the diesel engine.

"We have analyzed what worked in the previous generation, what is most attractive to customers, and redesigned the system to produce maximum efficiency, lower emissions, and smoother and smoother driving with everything of the same performance as diesel," said Senior Vice President, Region Research & Development, Nissan AMIEO, quoted from Nissan Europe's official website, Tuesday, July 1.

The heart of e-POWER has a unique concept in Nissan's car, namely that gasoline engines are only used to produce electricity that is distributed directly to electric motors to drive wheels, as well as to charge batteries when needed.

Unlike hybrids in general, this system is not included in gyrboks to combine gasoline and electrical energy to drive wheels, which means the response is instantaneous and driving is always smooth, such as electric vehicles.

Because its performance resembles a pure EV, the regenerative braking system on e-POWER converts kinetic energy into electrical energy, which is channeled back to batteries.

The newest e-POWER system consists of a newly developed 5-in-1 powertrain unit, integrating electric motors, generators, inverters, reducers, and increasers into compact and lightweight packages.

Combined with improved engine calibration and noise isolation, the system reduces noise and vibration under loads that provide maximum comfort while driving.

Overall, power increases by 11 kW, with a maximum of 151 kW. Battery capacity does not change at 2.1 kWh.

Then, e-POWER is coupled to a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder turbo engine as before that adopted the concept of Nissan's STARC burning, which has increased thermal efficiency by up to 42 percent to a very high level and could stabilize in-cylindrical combustion, which allows engines to operate more quietly and effectively at lower speeds.

The system has an increase in fuel consumption of up to 4.5l/100km according to the WLTP with a comprehensive reach claim of up to 1,200 km.

Not only fuel-saving and environmentally friendly, the latest e-POWER also has an additional 10 kW of power when in Sport mode.

Qashqai is the first model to receive this latest generation of e-POWER and will launch on the European market starting next September.
