Troubled Airbag, 250 Thousand Chrysler Model Units Affected By Recalls In The US

JAKARTA - The multinational automotive company Stellantis announced a recall program involving two models from the Chrysler brand Pacifica and Voyager in the United States (US) issued 2022-2025.

In a Reuters report on Monday, June 30, the recall involved as many as 250,651 vehicles due to the airbag of the side curtain that was not closed or installed properly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said airbags with inadequate pressure retention increased the risk of being thrown and injured in an accident.

In order to fix this problem, the manufacturer urges the owner of the affected vehicle to take his car to the nearest official dealer for inspection and replace the side curtain airbag if needed.

The company also ensures that all checks and changes in components are carried out free of charge.

In a statement, Stellantis said it was not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the defect, and urged customers to follow directions on the recall notice of their products.

Previously, Stellantis had also announced a recall involving Citroen-branded cars of around 82,000 C3 and DS3 models due to the Takata airbag problem.

The news was announced one week after a woman from Reims City, France died of an airbag of Takata in 2014 production C3.

The French Ministry of Transportation has also asked all vehicles affected by the recall not to be piloted on the highway after the accident.

The "Stop Drive" recall program involves C3 and DS3 models produced from 2014 to 2019.
