JAKARTA - PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) now has four hybrid model lines marketed for Indonesian consumers.
The models are CR-V, Accord, Civic, and most recently are HR-V for the Indonesian market. It is also mentioned that there are other hybrid models that will soon follow.
What's more, the four models are products that have been previously marketed in the country and received good reception because of advanced hybrid technology. Due to the positive trend of hybrid vehicles, will Honda apply the system to other model lines such as BR-V or WR-V?
Responding to this, the President Director of PT HPM, Shugo Watanabe explained that currently the platforms from BR-V and WR-V cannot accommodate technology e: HEV and further investment and modifications are needed.
"Technically, the BR-V or WR-V platform is unable to accommodate the hybrid system because the battery will be placed behind with the fuel tank placed right in the middle of the front seat," Watanabe told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 10.

However, he could not rule out the possibility that both products would be present in the hybrid variant in the future despite the need for in-depth research and development.
"Realistically, we will use a hybrid system that fits the capabilities of the Honda vehicle line platform," added Watanabe.
Speaking of the latest hybrid HR-V, Watanabe believes the SUV will receive good reception because it has been produced locally at the Karawang factory, West Java.
"With local production, high local content, and local supplier support, let's see what kind of hybrid HR-V acceptance is," concluded Watanabe.
