JAKARTA GAC AION is getting serious about working on the Indonesian automotive market. This is evidenced by the start of the operation of a local assembly plant built in collaboration with the Indomobil Group through PT National Assemblers (NA).
Carrying the concept of the 'Lighthouse Factory', this factory is present as a symbol of high-tech, environmentally friendly, and digitally integrated smart manufacturing. Its presence is designed to answer the growing market needs, especially in the pure electric vehicle (EV) segment.
In line with GAC's philosophy of 'acceleration of production and development', this factory prioritizes a flexible, efficient, and global standard production process. GAC is optimistic that this facility will strengthen Indonesia's position as a production center for electric vehicles in the Southeast Asia region.
In the past year, GAC and Indomobil have introduced a number of EV models such as AION Y Plus, AION V, and Hyper HT. Now, with the inauguration of this assembly plant, GAC affirms its long-term commitment through the slogan 'Come to Indonesia, For Indonesia', in line with the global strategy of One GAC 2.0.
Indonesia is a key market in GAC's global expansion. With the operation of a factory owned by PT National Assemblers, we want to contribute more deeply to economic growth, improve industrial quality, and transform sustainable mobility in Indonesia," said GAC International President of Weigang, at the inauguration of the factory.

AION V Becomes The First Model To Build Locally
The first model to be assembled locally is AION V, a modern electric SUV with advanced features designed to meet the needs of urban communities. This step is an important milestone in supporting the government's target to reduce carbon emissions while accelerating the development of the national EV ecosystem.
We are proud to be a part of Indonesia's automotive future. This factory is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to grow with Indonesia to create jobs, and transfer technology and knowledge," added Haigang.
The entire assembly process adopted a smart manufacturing system from NEV Lighthouse Factories owned by GAC in China. All lines of production are connected 100 percent digitally, enabling high efficiency and precise quality control.
Ready To Produce 4 Models, Including 7-Seater Cars
This factory is designed flexibly to assemble more than four vehicle models, ranging from sedans, SUVs, to MPVs. In fact, GAC and Indomobil have prepared a model with a seven-seater configuration to meet the needs of the Indonesian market.
Interestingly, the change in production lines only takes 30 minutes, allowing for a fast and responsive process. Currently, the factory capacity reaches 3 units per hour (JPH) and will be increased to 5 JPH in line with demand growth.
In the early stages, production capacity reaches 20,000 units per year, and will be developed into 50,000 units per year in the next few years, to meet both domestic and export markets.
Not only pure electric cars (EVs), this factory will also support the assembly of hybrid vehicles (HEVs and PHEVs) according to the development of GAC product strategies in the future.
