Gotion High-Tech Solid-State Battery Trial Promises 1,000 Km Electric Car Reach With 6 Minutes Filling

JAKARTA - One of China's largest battery manufacturers, Going High-Tech, has started road tests for its newest solid-state battery. This battery promises a range of 1,000 kilometers and charging capability in just 6 minutes.

Not only superior in energy density, reported by China Daily, Monday, June 9, this battery is named Jinshi, which literally means "golden rock" also shows outstanding performance in extreme conditions. Even at very low temperatures up to -30 degreesC, this battery is capable of retaining more than 80 percent of reach efficiency. This makes it a very reliable solution for use in winter, addressing one of the main concerns of electric vehicle owners in the cold climate.

Meanwhile, Chinese automotive observer Tycho de Feijter through his X account (@TychodeFeijter) reported that the battery was tested on the Exeed Sterra ET SUV. The most striking figure of this battery is its energy density which reaches 525 langg. This figure places Jinshi as one of the highest energy-density batteries ever, opening up tremendous reach potential for electric vehicles.

Another amazing feature is its ultra-fast charging capability. Gotion High-Tech claims that Jinshi batteries can cover a distance of up to 1,000 kilometers with just 6 minutes of charging. This figure significantly shortens the recharge time and potentially changes the way we view electric vehicle charging, making it as fast as conventional refueling.

Towards Mass Production

Although still in the road testing phase, the Gotion High-Tech has started the construction of a pilot production line for this solid-state battery. Small-scale production is expected to begin in the next 1 to 2 years, before finally heading for full mass production.
