Volvo Gandeng Google Presents Gemini Technology In Future Cars

JAKARTA - Swedish automotive manufacturer Volvo announced a partnership with Google to present the latest Android Automotive operating system in its newest vehicle.

This includes Google Gemini which the system has demonstrated on the latest EX90 Volvo cars. Volvo cars will now serve as one of Google's reference hardware platforms for future Android development on vehicles.

Head of Global Software Engineering Volvo Cars, Arwin Bakkenes said the presence of the device could offer more experience and is expected to be one of the most advanced mobility solutions in the future.

"Through this partnership with Google, we can present the latest features and capabilities of the leading consumer ecosystem into Volvo products first," Bakkenes said as quoted from Volvo's official website, Friday, May 23.

With the launch of the device, Volvo car users with Google systems will be the first to benefit from the Artificial Intelligent (AI) technology.

Google Gemini on vehicles can better understand what users want when driving through conversations.

Both drivers and passengers can convey messages, translate other languages, and ask questions in voice, making it easier for users to carry out their activities in their vehicles.

This system can help the user's cognitive load so that it can focus on driving without having to take his eyes off.

The Gemini system will replace Google Assistant in a Volvo car that has been equipped with Google Built-In by the end of this year.

Through this partnership expansion, Volvo cars are now also one of the reference hardware platforms for Google's development in the Android operating system for cars.

This means Google will use Volvo Cars as a major development partner for new features and updates, before adding them to the main Android code base.

Thus, this allows Google and Volvo Cars to innovate together on new connected experiences, ensuring Volvo drivers will be the first to enjoy the latest Android features and performance improvements.
