Mitsubishi To Launch Eclipse Cross BEV For European Market Later This Year

JAKARTA - Japanese automotive manufacturers are starting to seriously work on electric vehicles even though they are said to be late globally, but the increasingly booming electric cars in European and other areas could be the trigger.

For example, Honda has launched electric cars e:Ny1 for a number of European markets as well as other manufacturers such as Toyota which gave birth to the latest bZ4X, Urban Cruiser, to C-HR+.

Players in this industry such as Mitsubishi do not want to lose the competition. The reason is, the manufacturer with the "three diamonds" logo will launch the latest Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) on the blue continent.

Launching from the official Mitsubishi Motors Europe website, Friday, May 16, the car will be called "Eclipse Cross" which will compete in the C-SUV segment.

The presence of this car further reinforces the manufacturer's commitment to producing various mobility options for the European market, ranging from combustion engine (ICE) drivers, Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), to BEV.

Mitsubishi also confirmed Eclipse Cross BEV will be the SUC which will launch to the market later this year alongside the latest PHEV Outlander and the latest Grandis with ICE and HEV options.

The Eclipse Cross will be available in two battery options, namely the long-range which will launch in the fourth quarter of this year and mid-range will be launched in 2026.

According to Mitsubishi, the car will have a spacious interior and is equipped with a number of advanced technologies, aiming to meet the needs of today's families.

The car will have a distinctive design language from the manufacturer, namely "Dynamic Shield" highlighting futuristic elements and urban mobility developed by the Mitsubishi Motors European Design division centered near Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
