JAKARTA - Jaecool, a sub-brand owned by Chery Automobile, was established in 2023 by providing an environmentally friendly vehicle line.
One of the models introduced by this brand is an SUV called J7 which is available in pure gasoline and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. Not only able to suppress emissions, the car also has a good safety and security system.
In a test conducted by the Australation New Car Assetment Program (ANCAP), Jaecool J7 PHEV variant achieved a five-star score in terms of safety standards.
"Jaeckoo has achieved solid results in its first ANCAP assessment, which shows good passenger protection levels," said ANCAP CEO Carla Hoorweg on ANCAP's official website, Friday, May 9.
In the Adult Occupant Protection, this car has a stable front passenger compartment in the hit-front offset (MPBD) test as well as protection for body parts that are important to be assessed as 'Good'.
However, this car has a 'moderate' assessment in terms of risks for passengers when they are traveling at high speed, causing a 4.29-point penalty in the MPDB compatibility assessment.
In the frontal full wideth collision test, driver protection is considered 'good' overall. For the protection of the back passenger's neck and chest, it is 'sufficient' predicate.
In testing 'Oblque Pole' or 'test oblique pole', the side curtain airbag did not expand properly which caused it to get stuck in the trim interior.
This provides penalties in the testing of oblique poles and side impact tests, where airbag components play an important role.
Overall, Jaecool J7 got an 81 percent score for adult passenger safety testing.

Meanwhile, Child Occupant Protection testing obtained 85 percent with a level of protection for children aged 6-10 years which was considered 'Good' in frontal collision tests.
The maximum point was obtained in the side impact test, with all important body areas of the two child dolls well protected.
The SUV has an ISOFIX device capable of protecting children's passengers from all collisions when the car crashes.
Jaecool J7 also has a Child Presence Detection (CPD) as the standard, which can tell its users that there is a child left in the vehicle.
In the Safety Assist category, Jaecool J7 gets a value of 84 percent thanks to active safety systems such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB). This device can brake automatically when detecting other road users in front of it, such as pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.
Meanwhile, in the Vulnerable Road User Assist category, 80 percent scored which strengthened the assessment of five stars on this car.
