Exports Of Hybrid Toyota Skyrocket, Will Toyota Veloz Hybrid Be Present In Indonesia?

Toyota recorded positive achievements related to the export of hybrid vehicles from its two models, namely Zenix and Yaris Cross, and even the increase was quite rapid from 2023 to 2024.

Vice President Director of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) Bob Azam, revealed that throughout 2023 its exports (HEV) reached approximately 8,700 units and rose 111 percent in 2024.

"In 2023, the export will be approximately 8,700 units and in 2024 it will reach 18,700 units or an increase of almost 111 percent," he said, during a joint breaking of the fast in the Menteng Dalam area, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 18.

He further said that providing incentives from the government was also one of the reasons for the increase in exports of environmentally friendly vehicles from Toyota.

"So it's not in vain for the government to give additional hybrid incentives domestically because it seems that it can encourage exports as well," he added.

Signal of presence of Hybrid Veloz

Bob Azam also revealed that many overseas markets have high demand for hybrid because of infrastructure or so on. Bob gave an example for the South American market, which he said had a lot of demand for ethanol because it could be used in hybrid vehicles so that emissions were low and efficient.

When asked about other markets such as Mexico, he also revealed that models such as Avanza were quite attractive. So that Toyota can fill it (with the Avanza/Veloz model).

Is this a strong signal of the presence of the Veloz Hybrid?

"Civil cars are usually installed in luxury cars. Now we have started to model in the middle class like Yaris Cross. In essence, we direct all models there, depending on government incentives. Come (incentives) sooner, too. (launching)," he said.

As is known, the issue of the presence of Veloz Hybrid had surfaced after the registration of a new engine code, namely W102RE with type 1.5 Q HV CVT and 1.5 Q HV CVT TSS was arrested and has been registered at the DKI Jakarta Samsat.
