BMW Records Sales Of 2.2 Million Units In 2024, BMW XM As The Most Expensive SUV Still Has A Lot Of Interest

JAKARTA BMW recorded global sales of 2,200,217 units throughout 2024. Although this figure is still relatively high, there is a 2.3 percent decrease compared to the previous year.

Of all the models marketed, launching from Motor1, Tuesday, March 18, BMW Series 3 has again become the best-selling model with a total of 519,228 units sold worldwide. Behind it, BMW X1 and X2 recorded 413,386 units, while X3 and X4 followed with 370,198 units.

However, among the ranks of models produced by BMW, the BMW XM luxury SUV actually recorded the lowest sales figures, which were only 7,813 units throughout 2024. This figure is even smaller than the BMW Z4 roadster which sold 10,482 units.

BMW XM Still Shows Positive Trend

Despite being at the lowest position in terms of sales volume, BMW XM still shows a positive trend with an increase in sales of 15.8 percent compared to the previous year. On the other hand, BMW Z4 actually experienced a 4.3 percent decline.

Of the total XM units sold, 1,974 units were marketed in the United States (US), which means about 25.27 percent of the total global sales of this hybrid plug-in SUV. This increase cannot be separated from BMW's strategy of providing large discounts for XM over the past year.

BMW XM comes as the fastest Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) ever produced by this German manufacturer, especially in the BMW XM Red Label variant. This car combines a 4.4-liter V8 engine with a powered plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.

Overall, BMW XM produces a peak power of 653 cellphones, consisting of 489 cellphones from gasoline engines and 197 cellphones from electric motors. With this hybrid technology, this luxury SUV can also go in electrical mode as far as 80 km without emissions.

As a BMW flagship model, XM is also the most expensive SUV ever made by manufacturers. For the 2025 model, the price of BMW XM starts from USD 161,425 (IDR 2.6 billion) in the global market, while in Indonesia the price reaches IDR 6.472 billion
