BMW Sues Name M6, Here's The BYD Response

JAKARTA - BYD Motor Indonesia responded to a lawsuit filed by BMW regarding the naming of the same model or trademark, namely 'M6'. This was revealed by the Head of Marketing, PR & Government Relations BYD Indonesia Luther Panjaitan. He revealed that currently the process is still ongoing and there is a legal legal team that has handled it directly. "Hopefully there is a fair solution to both parties because basically this is about the contribution to the industry, make sure we look at it from an industrial perspective," he said, when met in the Central Jakarta area, some time ago. Regarding the name change for MPV electricity M6 from BYD, the man who is familiarly called Luther said it is still too far to talk about now. "We are just looking at and still reviewing what is the possibility, we let the process take place so we can get an idea," he added.

As previously reported by VOI, related to the M6 Communications Director of BMW Group Indonesia, Jodie O'tania, said BMW Group emphasized its commitment to protecting intellectual property rights and maintaining the quality and exclusivity standards of BMW products. "Regarding the use of the M6 brand by other parties in Indonesia, BMW Group as the legal owner of the M6 brand has taken legal steps to protect the identity and reputation of the BMW brand," he added, when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, March 11. He further said, BMW M6 is an iconic model in the BMW M line, known globally for its high performance, innovative technology, and exclusivity. "The use of the M6 brand by other parties has the potential to cause confusion in the public," he added. Jodie O'tania, said this legal step was taken not only to protect BMW's rights, but also for the benefit of customers in Indonesia.
