Study Reveals Best Used Vehicles Or Most Awet In The US Controlled By Japanese Manufacturers

JAKARTA The used car market offers attractive alternatives for consumers looking for affordable and reliable vehicles. A recent study from iSeeCars reveals which used cars, trucks and SUVs offer the best combination between reliability and longevity for the money spent.

Launching Carscoops, March 4, this study analyzed more than 700,000 lists of used cars in the United States (US), as well as the reading of an odometer of more than 368 million vehicles. The goal is to determine the average price of each model and estimate the remaining lifespan of its use. Well, from the analysis, it was found that the Honda Fit or Jazz was the best choice in the category of used cars aged 5 years and 10 years.

For the used 5 year old car category, Honda Fit (or Jazz in several international markets) appears as the best choice. With an average price of 18,336 US dollars (equivalent to Rp302 million) and an estimated lifespan of 11.6 years. At this price, the annual cost of using this car is only US$558 (around Rp26 million). This puts Honda Jazz in front of VW Passat (1,845 US dollars), Buick Encore (1,897 US dollars), and Kia Rio 5-Door ($2,023 US dollars).

Honda Fit's advantages are also visible in its 10-year version, with an average price of 12,169 US dollars (around Rp. 200 million) and a remaining lifespan of 9 years, making it the best-valued vehicle based on the price-to-use ratio.

Best And Worst Bekas Pickup Truck

In the used 5-year-old truck category, Nissan Frontier excels as the best score, with an average price of 23,801 US dollars (IDR 392 million) and an estimated 9-year-old lifespan. Chevrolet Colorado, GMC levy, and Toyota Tacoma also performed well.

On the other hand, Ram 1500 was ranked at the worst value, with an average price of 33,350 US dollars (Rp549.5 million) and only 7.3 years of lifespan.

For 10-year-old pickup trucks, Nissan Frontier, GMC levy, Toyota Tacoma, and Chevrolet Colorado also showed their best performance.

Recommended Used SUV

For those looking for used 5-year-old SUVs, Buick Encore, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Honda CR-V, and Mitsubishi Outlander are wise choices. The recommended 10-year-old SUVs include Buick Encore, Jeep Compass, Mazda CX-9, Infiniti QX60, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, and Volvo XC60.

Pay Attention To Maintenance Fees

Although this study highlights used cars that offer the most year of service for the money spent, the study does not take into account maintenance and repair costs, which are equally important in determining long-term value. Potential buyers must examine estimated maintenance costs before making a final decision.
