JAKARTA - The multinational automotive company Stellantis opened a recall program involving 27,354 Maserati cars in the United States (US).

Launching from Reuters, Tuesday, February 25, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the cause of the recall was a rear camera that helped when the vehicle was not working properly.

Since rear cameras don't show the rear conditions of the vehicle well, this could increase the risk of accidents.

According to NHTSA, it is likely that the software on the radio system can prevent the rear image display. They also added that the display can be updated through over-the-air.

The withdrawal affected a number of Maserati models, consisting of Grecale 2023-2024, MC20 Cielo 2023-2025, GranTurismo 2024, Grand Cabrio and Levante outputs 2021-2024, Ghibli, Quattroporte, and MC20 models for 2022-2025.

Behind Stellantis, there is a competing brand Ford which contributes a total of 4.3 million units of recall for 12 months in 2024.

The fourth position fell on Honda, which has carried out a recall program of 3.8 million units. This was followed by General Motors (GM) consisting of the Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, and Buick brands as many as 1.9 million units.

BMW occupies the sixth position with a recall of 1.8 million units, followed by Toyota with 1.22 million units.

Complementing the top ten positions, there are Kia brands with a total of 1.21 million units, followed by Hyundai up to 1.11 million, and Volkswagen (VW) with 1.09 million units.
