Ford Wants To Present Supercar Offroad Ready To Challenge Porsche 911 Dakar

JAKARTA - United States (US) automotive manufacturer Ford plans to launch an off-road supercar with the iconic name Raptor.

Ford CEO Jim Farley said his party was considering the plan. However, this brand from the United States (US) does not want to reveal the form of this model.

"We're creating something, so we don't have all the answers yet, but the question is let me Ford create an off-road supercar? Not a car version, a stand-alone supercar," Farley was quoted as saying by Top Gear and CarExpert, Thursday, February 6.

He added that the car must have an extreme style like the Ranger Raptor with appropriate damping, but with performance like a supercar.

"People don't understand how off-road racing fits and that makes it a very different experience by driving a Porsche 911 GT2 RS," added Farley.

Thus, Ford is expected to use the same approach as Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato. These two supercar models also have qualified offroad capabilities with a fairly extreme increase.

The Porsche 911 Dakar generation is currently equipped with a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine which has a performance capability of 473 hp and a torque of 570 Nm. Combined with the transmission of eight PDK accelerations, the car can run from 0 to 100 km/hour in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/hour.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato has a V10 naturally-assisted 5.2 liter engine that can pump 602 hp and torque 565 Nm.

With this kitchen runway, the supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in 3.4 seconds and can speed up at a maximum speed of 260 km/hour.
