JAKARTA - Volvo announced that it will bring improvements to a number of existing models, consisting of XC40, EX40, EC40, S60, V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, and V90 Cross Country.

The upgrade includes the latest generation Volvo Car UX and the embedded Snapdragon Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to all levels of Volvo products. This makes the infotainment system faster and more responsive than ever before.

Volvo Cars' Chief Product and Strategy Officer, Erik Severinson, said the increase was in line with the company's strategy to provide the best products to its customers.

"This launch is in line with our strategy to make our car better from time to time with over-the-air updates and is in line with our ambition to continue investing in all ranks of our cars," Erik was quoted as saying on Volvo's official website, Thursday, January 30.

Starting this year, all Volvo models will be equipped with this feature update and will channel it to millions of cars from the brand that have Google built-in. In addition, around 2.5 million global subscribers will get upgrades to their Volvo cars made in early 2020.

Furthermore, Volvo will also provide additional Plug & Charge features on electrification models such as EX30, EX40, and EC40 which are currently marketed in European territory.

Plug & Charge is an authentication and billing system that simplifies the experience of charging electric in cars.

"With Plug & Charge, you can simply drive to a compatible charging station, then plug in your power, and live your day," said Erik.

This feature is set and activated through cars and users can easily find charging stations that are compatible with using Google Maps on the middle display or through the Volvo Cars application.

Integrated stations can sophisticatedly identify user cars and can directly offer payment methods shortly after EVs are connected to charging cables. Collection starts automatically, without requiring additional or authentication cards, and payments are processed smoothly.
