There Is No Ford Electric Vehicle Line In The Country Yet, This Is The Reason RMA Indonesia

JAKARTA - RMA Indonesia officially brought Ford back to the country market in mid-2023 after the brand had left the Indonesian market a few years ago.

Again, showing its existence in Indonesia, the manufacturer is not playing games in presenting its products. Playing in a premium segment, the brand nicknamed Blue Oval presents the pickup Ranger which is present in several variants such as XLT, Wildtrak, and XL.

In addition, RMA Indonesia also presents the Ranger Raptor or an extreme variant of the Ranger series in the country with a choice of engine configuration of 2.0 liters of turbodiesel and the latest 3.0 liters of V6. Furthermore, Everest was also presented to strengthen its position in the Indonesian SUV market which is present in the XLT and Titanium variants.

Although the vehicle line presented attracted quite attention, RMA Indonesia has not taken steps like other manufacturers, namely selling electric vehicles here.

Country Manager of RMA Indonesia, Toto Suharto, said that his party opened the possibility to increase the number of models in the Indonesian market. However, he was reluctant to provide further details about the latest car.

"For new models, just wait for the game date. What is certain is that Ford is here to provide the best mobility solution in Indonesia," Toto said when met by the media after the launch of the Ranger XL at TB Simatupang, Jakarta, Thursday, January 23.

Nevertheless, Toto ensured that RMA Indonesia would present the latest vehicles that could be a solution for the latest market needs.

"We are discussing all the possibilities or all the solutions needed for the current Indonesian market," added Toto.

In the global market, Ford has an electric vehicle line called Mustang Mach-E which has the form of a tough crossover combined with a sporty element inspired by the legendary sport model, Mustang.

Speaking of performance, the Premium driving all wheels (AWD) has an electric motor of 346 cellphones and a torque of 580 Nm which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in 4.8 seconds. Then, the highest speed reaches 180 km/hour.

Equipped with a battery with a capacity of 88 kWh, Premium AWD Mach-E Mustangs can cover a distance of up to 540 km according to WLTP calculations.

Meanwhile, GT type as the highest equipped with 480 dk electric motors and 813 Nm peak torque with a top speed of 200 km/hour with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

The GT AWD type has the same battery, which is 88 kWh. Because it focuses on performance, this car has a lower distance of 500 km according to the WLTP.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E will be an attractive option if RMA Indonesia plans to bring it to the Indonesian market. Thus, this could be an ideal challenger for EVs in other premium segments such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, to the Tesla Model Y.
