Proton Confirms To Launch Second Electric Car Model This Year

JAKARTA - The national car brand proton from Malaysia will certainly launch a model of the second electric car, or after the eMas 7 model which some time ago officially launched.

Quoting from the Paultan page, Monday, January 6, this certainty was expressed directly by the CEO of Proton Dr Li Chunrong, at the opening ceremony of the Proton eMas Petaling Jaya exhibition room in Sexyen 13, operated by the Regal Motors EV.

Although the details of the next model have not been explained, rumors are circulating, namely a smaller electric car or eMas 5 made based on Geely Xingyuan.

If the rumors are proven true, later the hatchback ev will have a more affordable price and will compete with the upcoming electric model from Perodua which was recently introduced through the eMO-II concept for the local market.

Geely Xingyuan itself was launched in October 2024 where the car offered a distance of 410 km in CLTC, or as far as 350 km in WLTP count. The electric car packs battery options of 30.12 and 40.16.

Some time ago the Proton dealer briefly showed Geely Xinguan, sparking rumors that the next EV model was for small electric cars from eMas, and that possibility is getting more and more true.

There is still not much information circulating, but of course not a few will ask how much the car will cost if it is actually part of eMas. Of course, referring to the price of the eMas Proton at 100,000 ringgit (Rp358 million), of course it will be much cheaper.
