JAKARTA - After producing the L100 EV electric car, PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales (MMKSI) has not planned to produce another local electric car in the next few years.

This was revealed by the President Director of PT MMKSI, Atsushi Kurita, he said that until now Mitsubishi had produced L100 EV commercial electric vehicles since 2023.

"So, for now there are no plans for the production of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) again in Indonesia," he said, when met in the ICE BSD area, Tangerang some time ago.

However, he revealed that currently in the domestic Japanese market there is already a car model that is very attractive, namely eK X EV. Unfortunately, he did not explain in detail whether the model would enter Indonesia.

However, he said that Japanese manufacturers have collaborated for the development of technology to the electric car ecosystem, such as Mitsubishi with Nissan and Honda.

"Now that we have partnerships with Nissan and Honda, we will also discuss further to learn how to promote BEV globally," he said.

"However, once again for MMKSI itself this year, next year, and in the coming year there are no plans for local BEV production again," he added.

Even though if you look at the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, it is quite fast, even some new brands from China already have a strong commitment to locally assemble these environmentally friendly cars.
