Unlike M5, Next Generation BMW M3 Will Offer EV And Mild-hybrid Systems

JAKARTA - BMW plans to bring the latest generation M3 for the next few years. One of the best-selling series in the BMW M lineup is rumored to be present in pure electricity (EV) and ICE versions with hybrid technology.

However, the manufacturer will take a different approach for M3. If other models such as XM and the latest M5 carry plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology, the German brand intends to present it in a mild-hybrid version.

It has been confirmed before that this sedan will retain the 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine as before. However, the BMW M division will combine it with the 48V MHEV system.

Citing from Carscoops, Monday, October 21, this high performance division argues that there is no point adding extra PHEV weight to BMW M3 with large electric motors and batteries.

In addition, the presence of the EV version of the M3 also closes the possibility that the PHEV version will be provided. Both EV and mid-hybrid versions will carry the Neue Classe platform. The architecture will debut on the latest iX3 model next year and will then be present in the next generation Series-3 starting in 2026.

EV and mid-hybrid BMW M3 has the potential to enter the market in 2027, followed by the launch of its pure gasoline version.

Although the specifications are still a mystery, the latest generation BMW M3 will have a power of up to 600 dk or more powerful compared to the M3 CS version of 542 dk.

Another interesting thing about the EV version of the M3 will have tremendous power. According to rumors, this car will have four electric motors with more than 1,000 dk of power.

The steps taken by BMW for M3 are different from its competitors, namely Mercedes-Benz in the AMG C 63 S model. The car has PHEV technology that joins 4-cylinder so that it produces a total power of 671 dk.

Due to the PHEV system, Mercedes-AMG C 63 S can go with pure electric power up to 13 km in one charge.
