JAKARTA - Nissan announced it will benefit from access to Tesla Supercharger EV charging for the end of this year by offering a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter.

Launching from InsideEVs, Friday, October 18, the Japanese manufacturer will work closely with several charging operators to provide adapters to facilitate access for Nissan EV owners to more than 90,000 fast chargers across the US.

This step was taken in preparation for Nissan in offering electric vehicles (EVs) with a NACS charging port from its factory for 2025 following a number of other automotive players.

Unfortunately, it is still unclear whether the adapter will use a paid or free system. However, it is certain that this will make it easier for electric vehicle users in Uncle Sam's country.

Users can also use the MyNissan app to search for chargers and see the availability of stations in real-time and pay for the charging costs that have been provided.

Nearly 100,000 DC fast chargers are operated by Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo, with more networks to be combined in the future, including Tesla Supercharger networks.

However, this right can only be obtained by Nissan Ariya users. The Leaf model did not get this access because it still uses the CHAdeMO charger connector for its fast charging system which has begun to be abandoned in various countries, except Japan.

Nissan said Leaf owners can find charging stations through the NissanConnectEV and Service applications.

Meanwhile, Nissan Ariya has been equipped with a Combined Charging System Combo 1 (CCS1) port from the factory and is suitable for use in the NACS adapter.

Nissan is not the only automotive player to gain access to Tesla charging in the future. Other name manufacturers such as General Motors (GM), BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Stellantis, to Mercedes-Benz also get this privilege in facilitating users of electric vehicles in North America.
