Mercedes-Benz Group Experiences Decreased Sales In The Third Quarter Of 2024, Medium Segment Grows

JAKARTA - The Mercedes-Benz Group reported its sales during the third quarter of this year by pocketing a total of 594,600 units globally. This result is a combination of the Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans divisions.

Marketing & Sales Mercedes-Benz Group AG Britta Seeger, said the passenger car division collected sales of up to 503,600 units during that period or more than 1 percent compared to the previous quarter.

"Mercedes-Benz sold more than 500,000 cars from July to September, slightly higher than the second quarter and in line with the previous year," Seeger said on the company's official website, Friday, October 11.

Meanwhile, in the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segment, this premium manufacturer from Germany collected sales in the third quarter of 2024 to 42,500 units, a decrease of 7 percent compared to last year's acquisition.

Then from the top segment, Mercedes-Benz in Q3 2024 managed to sell as many as 61,800 units or decreased by 12 percent from last year's acquisition. This consists of vehicle sales in the upper class such as the S-Class, G-Class, and GLS models.

The medium segment managed to get positive results by successfully selling 301,000 units in Q3 2024, an increase of 4 percent from last year's acquisition in the same period. This consists of both GLC and CLE models.

Meanwhile, the basic class market or entry contributed sales of up to 140,700 in this period, down 7 percent. This includes sales on models like A-Class.

Mercedes-Benz Vans sub-division contributed sales of 91,100 during the July to September 2024 period, down 13 percent from last year's gains.

Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Sales & Marketing Klaus Rekugler, acknowledged that sales in the van vehicle sector, especially commercial, have decreased due to declining demand for the service and recreational business.

"In Germany and the United States, sales in the commercial segment have decreased mainly due to declining demand for the service and handicraft business, as well as the recreational vehicle business," Rekugler said.

In the commercial van segment, manufacturers recorded sales of Q3 2024 of 78,400 units, a decrease of 11 percent compared to last year's and private vans of up to 12,700 units, down 24 percent.
