JAKARTA - The Indonesian automotive market faces major challenges so far this year, with a significant decline in sales of four-wheeled vehicles compared to the previous year.

According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), wholesale sales from January to July 2024 only reached 484.235 units, a drastic drop of 17.6 percent compared to the same period last year. This figure is a signal for the national automotive industry, both for single agents holding brands (ATPM) and dealers, to look for new strategies to boost the market.

One of the major dealers, Auto2000, is trying to overcome this challenge with various interesting programs.

Aftersales Support Dept Head Auto2000 Yusuf Bahtiar revealed that his party has launched a number of innovative programs to improve the experience of buying vehicles on its network.

We have launched several programs aimed at pushing the market, such as the 'Serbu' program at the beginning of the year which lasted until the end of the year. In addition, we also present the Select program, which is in the form of a lottery with attractive prizes," Yusuf explained when met in East Bekasi, Sunday, August 25.

Even though there are various programs, Yusuf ensures that Auto2000 will continue to present attractive promos until the end of 2024.

"We are committed to continuing to create programs that can push the market," he added.

Yusuf also admitted that this year's decline in the automotive market was not only caused by single factors such as elections, but was also influenced by weakening economic conditions, both domestically and globally.

"The current automotive market is quite challenging, not just because of elections. There are many factors that influence it," said Yusuf.

However, Yusuf remains optimistic that the Indonesian automotive market will rise again and record positive growth at the end of the year.

"We see this situation realisticly, but remain optimistic. Our hope is growth in the second half, especially sales in the last two months showing a fairly good trend," he concluded.
