Toyota announced the recall involving 33,848 vehicles consisting of 23 different models in the United States (US). However, the trigger for the recall was not due to technical problems or software problems, but due to a sticker misinstallment.

Reporting from Motor1, Tuesday, August 13, it was stated that there were several vehicles that had wrong stickers about the weight of accessories.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the company that issued the order was Gulf States Toyota, Inc., a Texas-based distributor and provider of Toyota vehicle accessories.

It is known that according to the fight when an accessory is added to the vehicle, a label in the form of a sticker is of course needed to show a new charge capacity. Based on the recall, inspections at the end of June found a vehicle with incorrect statistics on the updated label.

It was stated that the problem was caused by a programming error which resulted in the system miscalculating the weight on several parts of vehicle accessories.

This recall includes all models sold in Uncle Sam's country, ranging from major SUVs such as Sequoia to Corolla including 2023 and 2024 models.

Withdrawal documents do not highlight certain areas for this recall, but Toyota's website mentions more than 150 dealer locations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

The manufacturer will fix this issue simply by sending a new label with correct information to the affected vehicle owners at no cost. Toyota will notify car owners of the matter from September 16.

This adds to the list of recalls issued by Toyota in the US. Previously, the Japanese manufacturer announced a recall involving the Grand Highlander and Lexus TX models last June.

This is due to an airbag problem that makes both of them have to stop selling.

This recall affects about 145,000 units of Grand Highlander and TX produced in 2024. Owners of these two SUV models will be notified of improvements in mid-August when Toyota has found a solution to the problem.
