Hybrid Incentives In Indonesia Not So, HPM Opens Voice

The riddle regarding the news of the provision of incentives for hybrid vehicles has finally been answered. Through the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the government has ensured that there will be no additional policies for this year.

With no changes, it means that the government will also not issue policies to provide incentives for hybrid vehicles in Indonesia.

According to him, this segment has received a very good response and has even doubled when compared to the previous year.

Responding to this, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) Yusak Billy, said that his party believes that the government has considered all aspects before deciding whether there will be no additional policies regarding hybrid vehicle incentives.

"Basically we believe that every government policy must have considered various aspects to support the economy and industrial growth," Billy said when contacted by VOI, Friday, August 9.

Billy also explained that his party already has its own strategy for the introduction of hybrid vehicles and will continue to add to the ranks of environmentally friendly cars in Indonesia.

"We have also designed a strategy for hybrid recognition based on existing regulations," added Billy.

Nevertheless, he considered that this incentive provision has the potential to grow consumer demand and the growth of the automotive market will increase.

If there is an additional stimulus, it will certainly increase consumer demand. Because we think hybrid technology is the most practical to use now before heading for full electrification, "explained Billy.

In Indonesia, the manufacturer with the 'H' logo presents two hybrid product models, namely All New CR-V RS e: HEV and All New Accord RS e: HEV. Both of these models marked their debut in the country in 2023.

In the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), Honda also exhibited one of the newest hybrid vehicle lines called StepWGN. This car received a good welcome from exhibition visitors.

As previously reported by VOI, PT HPM claims that it has received 1,000 respondents regarding Step WGN and 98 percent of them have an interest in buying it.
