"For EVs, what they are looking for is instant torque. So, unlike conventional ones, tires must be ready to accept these torques so they don't experience drag," said Arfianti when met in Gambir, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 25.
He added that tires on EVs must have a high level of apparentness when used, so that vehicle drivers or users are not disturbed by the sound of tire friction with asphalt.
"The EV has no engine sound, so a silent tire is needed. We have to create tires that don't interfere with the alert," added Arfianti.
Arfianti also emphasized the importance of sustainability in creating electric vehicles, so EV tires must be durable and not pollute the environment.
"Because EVs are environmentally friendly vehicles, we designed eco-friendly tires and last a long time," said Arfianti.

Furthermore, Goodyear will soon present special tire products for electric vehicles to the Indonesian market. These tires are designed to have a long lifespan and a lower drag coefficient than conventional tires.
"The EV bans must be designed to conserve energy with low aerodynamic and rolling resistance properties. Large torques on electric vehicles make the use of tires potentially more wasteful, so accretion is very important. We have patents for tire designs whose drag coefficients are lower and durable," explained Arfianti.
The tires to be launched are 18 inches and above, suitable for several cars such as Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. The tires are produced by CBU from China.
"We make sure this tire slides this year. The segment we will enter is Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6, and we also supply these tires to Tesla globally," concluded Arfianti.
