Before Expansion To Indonesia, BYD Dominates Thailand's Electric Car Market In 2023

JAKARTA - BYD will soon officially enter Indonesia but observing BYD's work, which first existed in neighboring countries, is quite interesting.

BYD's market grows in the Southeast Asian market, particularly Thailand, which achieves impressive sales.

Launching Autolife Thailand, Tuesday, January 9, EV sales in white elephant countries during 2023 reached 76,314 units, an increase of up to 684 percent compared to the acquisition in 2022.

Of the total number, BYD topped the stairs of automotive manufacturers with the most EV sales of up to 30,650 units. Behind it are compatriot rivals, Neta, which has a position of 12,777 zero emission vehicles.

Complementing the top three, the Morris Garage (MG) brand managed to record sales of up to 12,764 units, followed by Tesla totaling 8,206 vehicles. Then, the fifth position was equipped by the Ora brand from Great Wall Motor (GWM) with 6,746 units.

Meanwhile, the BYD Atto 3 model became the EV model with the most sales of 19.214 units, followed by Neta V with a total of 12.777 vehicles, and BYD Dolphin completed the top three positions with 9.410 units during 2023.

Furthermore, the fourth position with the most sales was occupied by the Ora Good Cat which reached 6,712 units and the Tesla Model Y completed the top five in Thailand with 5,881 vehicles.

The sixth position is occupied by MG4 Electric with 4,833 vehicles, then MG EP with 4,475 vehicles. Meanwhile, the lowest three are Tesla Model 3 with 2,324 units, BYD Seal with a total of 1,810 units, and MG ZS EV completes the top 10 with 1,753 units.

It is known, BYD offers superior e-platform systems. This technology can manage battery temperatures to remain controlled in extreme weather, so as to extend driving range and increase comfort, and can increase deep integration between driving, braking and steering systems that make driving more responsive.

For the Indonesian market, these two models belonging to manufacturers from China have been seen several times paving the streets of Jakarta, namely BYD Atto 3 and BYD Seal. It is worth waiting for the next breakthrough from this company in several markets.
