JAKARTA - Recently, BMW introduced the concept of a car that marks the company's latest electrification era, Vision Neue Classe, at the IAA Mobility 2023 event or Munich Motor Show in Germany.

As one of the auto giants, BMW has big ambitions to be at the forefront of developing electric vehicle technology. In the next few years, the Bavarian automotive manufacturer plans to launch more electrification models.

With the presence of Neue Classe, BMW hopes to reap a profit that is comparable to today's electric car. BMW Group CEO Oliver Zipse believes that the Neue Classe will be very profitable, even on par with existing electric cars.

"(Neue Classe) is very profitable. I'm sure it will reach the same level of profit as today's electric cars," Zipse said, reported by Reuters on Saturday, September 2.

Zipse also confirmed that BMW has a long-term profit margin target of between 8 percent and 10 percent in the automotive segment. In fact, they believe they can achieve these results in the coming quarters.

BMW has ambitious plans to launch at least six models within 24 months of Neue Classe's arrival, including various models ranging from Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) to sedans.

"All of these models have one thing in common, namely pure electric machines as a source of power," said Zipse.

The manufacturer plans to start production of Vision Neue Classe by 2025 at a BMW-owned factory in Debrecen, Hungary, and release it to the market in 2026.

In addition, BMW also invested 500 million euros to expand production capacity at the San Luis Potosi factory, Mexico. The factory is expected to produce Neue Classe and battery packages by 2027.

BMW also boasted about the Efficiency Dynamics technology applied to the Neue Classe, which brings a significant increase, such as a 30 percent range expansion, 30 percent faster charging, and efficiency, which increases by 25 percent.

The design of the Vision Neue Classe concept has elements similar to i Vision Dee, including the shape of the engine hood that resembles a " Shark nose" with two distinctive horizontal grips. The car is also equipped with advanced LED lights that frame its corners, with 3D printing technology used on some of its lighting elements.
