JAKARTA - PSSI stated that three assistant coaches for the Indonesian national team from South Korea, namely Kim Hae-woon, Lee Jae-hong and Kim Woo-jae, officially resigned.

Quoted from the PSSI website in Jakarta, Tuesday, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi said that the three left for personal reasons.

"I think it is Shin Tae-yong (head coach of the Indonesian national team-ed) who knows best the reason for their resignation," said the man from Gorontalo.

Kim Hae-woon himself is a goalkeeping coach, Kim Woo-jae is a technical coach and Lee Jae-hong is a physical trainer.

They are assistants who fought alongside Shin Tae-yong while coaching the South Korean national team at the 2018 World Cup.

Thus, there have been four assistant coaches who resigned when the Indonesian national team was handled by Shin Tae-yong.

Previously, Gong Oh-kyun had left and was replaced by Choi In-cheul.

PSSI regrets the current situation because when signing the contract, Shin Tae-yong agreed that all the assistant coaches who accompanied him were those who also participated in the 2018 World Cup.

For this reason, PSSI wants to get direct information from Shin Tae-yong once the 50-year-old man arrives in Indonesia in the third week of August 2021.

PSSI said there was an impression that Shin and his assistants had an uneasy relationship.

While waiting, PSSI is also working on a potential replacement for the three assistant coaches.

"Regarding a replacement, PSSI will not choose a new assistant coach arbitrarily. The replacement must have qualified skills and experience. Previously, the appointment of Choi In-cheul as a replacement for Gong Oh-kyun was also based on Shin Tae-yong's recommendation," said Yunus.

PSSI plans to hold a training camp for the Indonesian national team in August 2021.

Nearby, the Garuda squad will compete in the 2023 Asian Cup qualifying play-off against Taiwan on 7 September and 12 October 2021.
