Jose Mourinho Frustrates Arsenal's Attempt to Sign Vinicius Jr

JAKARTA - Arsenal's hopes of signing Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior have finally failed. New Madrid coach Jose Mourinho does not want Vinicius Jr to leave Santiago Bernabeu before his contract is completed.

Vinicius Jr's contract actually expires in June 2027. He is also ready to leave Madrid because he is a target of Arsenal who show seriousness in bringing this Brazilian national team winger.

Arsenal, who are the defending champions of the English Premier League, do not mind restructuring the player's salary structure in order to get Vinicius Jr. How not, Vinicius Jr's salary in Madrid alone is still higher than Bukayo Saka who is the highest paid player at Arsenal.

Manager Mikel Arteta believes Vinicius Jr is capable of taking an important role at Arsenal. In fact, he has the ability to change the game so that Arsenal becomes more solid to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Only the Gunners' plan to bring in Vinicius Jr was ultimately unsuccessful. According to The Sun, Mourinho did not want to let go of the 26-year-old despite the club not immediately renewing his contract.

The recruitment of winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig does not mean he will replace Vinicius Jr. Currently, Madrid is closer to getting Diomande, who is projected to replace Vinicius Jr. Interestingly, the two players are under the agency Roc Nation.

Previously, the Spanish La Liga elite club had brought in defender Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) and Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan).

Madrid also plans to recruit Man City defender Rodri. However, Los Merengues must compete with Paris Saint-Germain who want to bring the Spain national team captain to the French Ligue 1.

Even though he failed to get Vinicius Jr, it doesn't mean that Arsenal's chances of recruiting him are closed. Only, Arsenal has to wait until next season. In fact, they can bring Vinicius Jr for free because Madrid has not renewed his contract.

Arsenal can already conduct personal negotiations with the player in December when Vinicius Jr is a free transfer. He is free to negotiate with any club without the involvement of Madrid.

If he reaches an agreement and joins Arsenal, then Madrid will not get a penny from the departure of the player.
