JAKARTA - Midfielder Morgan Rogers has officially announced his move to Chelsea from fellow Premier League club Aston Villa in this summer's transfer window.
Quoted from the club's official website, Wednesday, Chelsea tied Rogers with a seven-year long contract or until the summer of 2032/2033.
The English national will soon join Xabi Alonso's squad to take part in Chelsea's pre-season activities ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
"I am very enthusiastic. For me, Chelsea is the biggest club in London and a club that I have always admired since I was a child," Rogers said after being officially introduced by Chelsea.
According to several reports, Chelsea had to spend up to 117 million pounds or around Rp2.8 trillion to convince Aston Villa to sell Rogers in the summer transfer market.
"I am very excited about the project with the new manager, the players we have, and the direction this club is going in. That is the reason I am here, and I can't wait to get started," said Rogers.
The 23-year-old joined Chelsea after establishing himself as one of the top young attacking talents in the Premier League.
During his time at Aston Villa, he contributed goals or assists from a total of 40 goals in 85 appearances in the Premier League. In addition, he also brought the Midlands club to finish in the top four before finally lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy last season.
Since making his debut with the England senior team in November 2024, Rogers has become a regular for the Three Lions, making 22 appearances and representing his country at the 2026 World Cup.
