Janice Tjen is on the WTA 500 Mubadala Open 2025 main list

JAKARTA - Indonesian tennis player, Janice Tjen, is on the list of main participants who will appear at the 2026 Mubadala Open WTA 500 event which takes place in Washington D.C., United States, from July 27 to August 2, 2026.

The certainty made Janice get the opportunity to compete at the elite level after completing her performance at Wimbledon 2026.

Janice is one of the 20 tennis players who directly qualify for the main draw. His name is paired with Alexandra Eala, Cristina Bucsa, Katerina Siniakova, Jacqueline Cristian, Wang Xinyu, Liudmila Samsonova, and a number of other top tennis players.

The competition in Washington is sure to be tight because the tournament is attended by seven tennis players in the top 20 in the world.

Elina Svitolina, who is currently in the eighth position in the world, is projected to be the top seed, accompanied by Marta Kostyuk, Naomi Osaka, Diana Shnaider, Iva Jovic, Jasmine Paolini, and Anna Kalinskaya.

Besides them, Madison Keys, Leylah Fernandez, Clara Tauson, Emma Navarro, Anastasia Potapova, and Ann Li will also compete in the tournament.

Of the total 28 singles participants, as many as 20 tennis players qualified directly based on their rankings. The remaining four tickets will be contested through the qualifying round and the remaining four slots are given through wildcards.

Until now, the organizers have not announced the list of wildcard recipients even though they have confirmed that Venus Williams will return to the tournament.

Leylah Fernandez came to Washington as the defending champion. The Canadian tennis player won the title last season after defeating Anna Kalinskaya in the final match.

The Mubadala Open 2026 is an important part of the WTA Tour hard court tournament series ahead of the US Open Grand Slam. The main draw of the tournament is scheduled to take place on July 25, 2026.

The Mubadala Open 2026 was supposed to be Janice's golden opportunity to bounce back after a less than satisfactory result at Wimbledon 2026. The Jakarta-born tennis player was eliminated in the second round in both the singles and doubles events.

In the doubles, Janice and Aldila Sutjiadi were defeated by Marta Kostyuk and Elena Gabriela Ruse with a score of 4-6 and 6-7 (8). Meanwhile, in the singles, his step stopped after losing to Daria Kasatkina with a score of 7-6 (5), 1-6, and 4-6.
