Honda Team Asia boss Angket Jempol for Veda Ega's performance in Catalunya

JAKARTA - Honda Team Asia Manager, Hiroshi Aoyama, applauded Veda Ega Pratama's performance in the 2026 Moto3 Grand Prix Catalunya race which took place at the weekend.

The racer from Gunungkidul started the race at the Catalunya Circuit, Barcelona, Spain, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from the 20th position. However, he managed to record himself as the eighth racer to cross the finish line.

"Finishing in eighth place after starting from a very far behind is a very positive result and another important experience for him," Hiroshi said in a statement received.

The 17-year-old racer completed the sixth race of the season this year with a gap of 0.984 seconds from Maximo Quiles who came out as the winner.

The latest results gave Veda an additional eight points. He is now in fifth place in the driver standings with 58 points or 82 points behind Quiles who is in the lead.

Veda admitted that he was happy after managing to recover from a difficult position to add points while repeating a record that was almost similar to the previous series in Jerez.

"Starting from the back again like in Jerez and fighting back to the front group is something very positive for me," said Veda.

From the six series that have taken place, Veda's only chance to fail to secure points was at the United States Grand Prix which took place at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Austin, Texas.

Meanwhile, in the other four races, he managed to finish fifth in the opening series in Thailand, then climbed the podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix, finishing sixth at the Spanish Grand Prix, and finishing fourth at the French Grand Prix at the Bugatti Circuit.
