Paris Saint-Germain Advances to Champions League Quarterfinals

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) dominated by defeating Chelsea 3-0 in the second leg of the 2025/26 Champions League 16th round.

This result, as reported by Antara, ensures Les Parisiens advance to the quarter-finals with an aggregate of 8-2 in the match which took place at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday morning WIB, as reported by the official UEFA website.

PSG, who had a 5-2 lead from the first leg, immediately opened the lead when the match was only six minutes.

Mamadou Sarr's mistake in anticipating Matvey Safonov's long pass was taken advantage of by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score a goal with a shot to the right bottom corner of the goal that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez could not stop.

PSG doubled the lead in the 15th minute. A quick counterattack was finished by Bradley Barcola with a volley into the top left corner of the goal after receiving a cross from Achraf Hakimi.

Chelsea tried to bounce back towards the end of the first half, but Joao Pedro's chances in the 36th minute and two consecutive chances from Cole Palmer and Jorrel Hatod were thwarted by PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. The score remained 2-0 until halftime.

Entering the second half, Chelsea again pressed, only Liam Delap's shot in the 61st minute was able to be secured by Safonov. Instead of reducing the deficit, the host's goal was again conceded a minute later.

Substitute Senny Mayulu scored PSG's third goal with a hard shot from the edge of the penalty area after picking up the rebound.

Chelsea continued to try to score an entertaining goal in the remaining time, but a number of opportunities from Alejandro Garnacho and Liam Delap were successfully thwarted by Safonov who performed solidly under the bar.

The score of 3-0 lasted until the end of the match. PSG also advanced to the quarter-finals and will face the winner of the duel between Liverpool vs Galatasaray in April.
