BATC 2026 results: Indonesia's men's team beats Thailand 3-2 in a dramatic match

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's badminton squad managed to secure a ticket to the semifinals of the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) after defeating Thailand.

Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah and his colleagues followed in the footsteps of the women's team after a dramatic 3-2 win at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, on Friday, February 6, 2026, WIB night. All three points were contributed by the men's singles.

Ubaidillah who started the Indonesian fight successfully won. The athlete born in Sampang, Madura, brought the Garuda Squad ahead in two games 21-13 and 22-20 against Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul.

Thailand then tied the score in the second game when the men's doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana fell. The pair lost three games 21-14, 15-21, and 17-21 against Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul.

The second point for Indonesia was then obtained by Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo. He stopped Puritat Arree's resistance with a final score of 21-7, 17-21, and 21-18.

The rising young pair, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, who fell in the fourth game, failed to take Indonesia away. They lost 19-21 and 18-21 to the pair of Pharanyu Kaosamaang/Worrapol thongsa-nga.

The same strong position of 2-2 makes Indonesia's fate in the hands of Richie Duta Richardo who will compete in the last match. Although he was burdened, he performed perfectly and completed the two-game match 21-5 and 21-17 against Tanawat Yimjit.

In the semifinal round, Indonesia will meet Japan. The fourth seed passed the quarterfinal round with a landslide victory 3-0 over Malaysia.

Previously, this afternoon, the women's team had already advanced to the semifinals. Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo and her friends were also forced to play five matches to keep hope alive.
