2026 Asian Futsal Cup: Indonesia beat South Korea 5-0

The Indonesian Futsal National Team defeated South Korea in the first match of the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup (doc. AFC).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Futsal National Team convincingly won over South Korea with five goals without reply in the first match of Group A of the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup (AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026), Tuesday, January 27, 2026, WIB evening, at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta.

The Garuda squad took the initial initiative with high intensity which produced the opening goal in the second minute. Rizki Xavier gave a pass to Mochammad Iqbal who finished with a simple execution.

South Korea was unable to respond to Indonesia's constant attacks and was forced to defend in the middle of the field. Goalkeeper Jeong Joo-ho made several saves to keep the East Asian team in the game.

However, Jeong could not do anything in the 11th minute when the Indonesian Futsal National Team doubled their lead. Ardiansyah Nur gave a pass to Rio Pangestu who fired a beautiful horizontal shot from outside the half circle.

Unexpectedly, South Korea found a gap, but Kang Ju-kwang's curved header was successfully blocked by Dewa Rizki, who was quick, before Jeong repelled Yogi Saputra's hard kick from a distance. The White-Red Team's 2-0 advantage closed the first half.

The Indonesian Futsal National Team again started the second half very quickly. Mochammad Iqbal scored his second goal with an accurate kick from a rebound ball in the 21st minute, after Israr Megantara's initial attempt from a narrow angle hit the crossbar.

The score became 4-0 eight minutes later when Firman Andriansyah gave a perfect breakthrough pass to Israr - who managed to sneak behind the South Korean defense - to score a goal past a helpless Jeong.

South Korea had a chance to narrow the gap in the 32nd minute after a one-touch pass move that freed Kim Gun-woo into space, but the 28-year-old fired wide of Ahmad Habiebie's goal.

The landslide victory was confirmed three minutes before the end of the match when Reza Gunawan reacted the fastest to score a goal from close range after Jeong's ball fell right next to him.

The Indonesian Futsal National Team will then face Kyrgyzstan on Thursday, January 29, 2026, while South Korea hopes to bounce back when facing Iraq.

The victory brought the Garuda Squad temporarily leading Group A standings, ahead of Iraq's goal difference which in the previous match defeated Kyrgyzstan 4-2.
