JAKARTA - A total of 21 sports branches (cabor) are included in the latest National Sports Master Plan (DBON), the result of a revision carried out by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpor), Erick Thohir, revealed the updated list of sports in a working meeting (raker) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports with Commission X of the DPR RI at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

"The majority are individual sports, not doubles. This is intended as a form of national empowerment," said Erick in the meeting.

The DBON results of the revision include 20 flagship sports for the Olympics and one sports category for the road to the world stage. The list was determined according to historical indicators, tradition, potential achievements, and a reflection of the strength of the nation.

The sports will be prepared for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Their positions are not permanent because the Ministry of Youth and Sports still implements a promotion and relegation system based on achievements.

Erick said that currently his party is still waiting for the issuance of a new Presidential Regulation (Perpres) regarding the latest DBON, replacing Presidential Regulation Number 86 of 2021.

"Of course we are still waiting for the rules from the President because there will also be improvements to DBON. This is like how other nations promote their sports," he said.

The only sport that is included in the road to world stage category is pencak silat. The original Indonesian sport is being fought to be able to enter the Olympics.
