Carlos Pereira: Madura United Take Advantage of the Mid-Season Break to Improve

Madura United coach Carlos Pereira wants a thorough overhaul after the less than optimal results in the first half of the Super League (Antara doc).

JAKARTA - Madura United coach Carlos Pereira confirmed that his team would maximize the mid-season break of the 2025/2026 Super League competition to carry out a thorough overhaul.

Evaluation is the main focus after Laskar Sape Kerrab went through the first half of the season with an unoptimal result.

Quoted from the official I-League website, Pereira admitted that there were still a number of important records from Madura United's performance that needed to be immediately improved before the second round of the competition rolled out.

"We have some notes from some of our matches. We must immediately fix these points, there is still a lot of time," said Carlos Pereira, quoted on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Madura United has at least more than a week to prepare before entering the second half of the 2025/2026 Super League season.

In the 18th week, Madura United is scheduled to face Persija Jakarta at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Jakarta, Friday, January 23, 2026, at 19.00 WIB.

Lulinha and his colleagues are trying to bounce back after less than satisfactory results in the first half of the competition. Currently, Madura United is in 14th place in the standings with 17 points from 17 matches.

The position is considered not ideal considering that Madura United still needs additional points to stay away from the red zone. Winning is the main target of Carlos Pereira's squad in the second half of the season.

In the last two matches before the break, Madura United had to swallow defeat from Persebaya Surabaya with a score of 0-1 and PSIM Yogyakarta 0-3.

Throughout the first half of the Super League, Madura United also only recorded four wins, five draws, and eight losses.

With the evaluation carried out during the break, Carlos Pereira hopes that Madura United's performance can improve and perform more consistently when the competition resumes.
