JAKARTA - Indonesia has decided to send only four representatives to the 2026 India Open, a BWF Super 750 level tournament taking place this week.
The India Open 2026 will be held on January 13-18, 2026 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, New Delhi, India. Mixed doubles is the only number that is not on the list of Indonesian representatives.
Three of the four representatives sent by Indonesia to India previously fell at the 2026 Malaysia Open event last week. A total of nine representatives played there, but none of them managed to bring home the title.
The three representatives who previously appeared in Malaysia were the men's singles Jonatan Christie, the women's singles Putri Kusuma Wardani, and the men's doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
From the three names, the farthest journey was carved by Jonatan who could reach the semifinals, while Putri and Sabar/Reza returned in the quarterfinals.
In the first round of the India Open, Jonatan will meet Jia Heng Jason Teh from Singapore, Putri against Michelle Li (Canada), and Sabar/Reza against Chen Zhi Ray/Lin Yu Chieh (Chinese Taipei).
The other Indonesian representative who will fight at the 2026 India Open is the women's doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
Lanny/Amallia immediately got a heavy obstacle in their first tournament this year. The reason is that they met the first seed Liu Sheng Shu/Tang Ning (China) who just won the 2026 Malaysia Open.
