Arsenal Minim Gol, Arteta: Should Have Created a Big Score

JAKARTA - Arsenal is having trouble again when facing Everton. In that match, Arsenal only won 1-0 narrowly which was created from a penalty point. Manager Mikel Arteta stated that Arsenal should have won with a big score in the duel at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool, Sunday, December 21, 2025 WIB.

Arsenal's front line seems to have lost its sharpness precisely when the attackers can play again. In that match, almost all the front players were brought down by Arteta. The center forward scheme by placing Viktor Gyokeres supported by Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka.

Even Everton should have been able to equalize if the referee had given a penalty when William Saliba brought down striker Thierno Barry. Only the referee refused it even though he had watched it through VAR. Arsenal finally won one goal.

"We created three or four chances. In addition, two kicks hit the crossbar. The goal margin should be bigger," Arteta said in response to the Gunners' poor finishing.

"We should continue to learn and make improvements even though we won the match," he said.

Arteta was rightly disappointed that the expectations of a goal-hungry forward like him were not fulfilled. In the previous match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, they even failed to score a goal despite winning 2-1.

The reason is that Arsenal's two goals were caused by Wolves players' suicide. More ironically, Arsenal's victory was determined by the opponent's goal just moments before the break or precisely 90+4 minutes.

"However, we got back to a clean sheet. We didn't concede throughout the game. This is a positive thing. It also gives confidence that the team is showing consistency. It must be admitted that it is not easy to do in this league," said Arteta again.

The one-goal victory over Everton saw Arsenal regain the top spot after it was taken over by Manchester City who won 3-0 over West Ham United. Now, Arsenal, who have 36 points, are two points ahead of Man City.

Furthermore, Arsenal will return to host Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, December 27, 2025, WIB evening.

"We know we'll face a lot of games in different competitions. This win really helps us. Now, we're ready for Tuesday's game [local time against Palace]," he said.
