Barcelona Limits Sales Of Match Tickets Against Frankfurt So That Incidents In 2022 Don't Repeat

JAKARTA - Barcelona will limit ticket sales for next week's Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt to members so that incidents like in 2022, where German club supporters flood Camp Nou, don't happen again.

More than 30,000 Frankfurt supporters managed to enter the Barcelona stadium for the Europa League match, creating a sea of white T-shirts when the Bundesliga team won a brilliant victory on their way to winning trophies.

The two teams will meet for the first time since then Wednesday, December 10, 2025, early morning WIB, with Barcelona making the decision to limit ticket sales ahead of the match.

"This decision was taken to maintain the safety of Barcelona supporters and prevent a repeat of the situation as in April 2022, when the majority of the stadium spectators were not the host team supporters."

"With this step, the club gives full priority to its members, who are the backbone of the institution, and ensures that the stadium will be an exclusive celebration and support space for Barcelona supporters," the Catalan club said in a statement.

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, also underlined the club's desire to avoid a repeat of the latest incident.

"I don't want to feel the same way we felt in the 2022 match. These are terrible memories, the stadium is full of opponent costumes," he said at an event on Thursday, December 4, 2025, local time.

This match will be Barcelona's first match at Camp Nou in the Champions League event since they returned to the stadium in November 2025.

The Blaugrana have spent the last two years playing at the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium during Camp Nou renovations, but have played their last three LaLiga games at home with a maximum capacity of 45,000 spectators, as construction continues.

After losing to Chelsea last week, Frankfurt's visit was also important to Barcelona's hopes in the Champions League.

Hansi Flick's side currently have seven points from five games, placing them in 18th place in the standings, three points adrift of the top eight and tickets automatically qualify for the last 16.

Meanwhile, Frankfurt also desperately needed a win. They are in 28th place with four points from five games, two points adrift of the top 24 and one place in the knockout round.
