JAKARTA The national weightlifter (lifter) Rizki Juniansyah was officially inaugurated as a soldier of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) by the Commander General of the Indonesian Armed Forces Agus Subiyanto.

The 2024 Olympic gold medalist is included in the list of 51 young officers who were inaugurated by Subiyanto in the ceremony which took place at GOR Ahmad Yani, TNI Cilangkap Headquarters, East Jakarta, on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

The TNI Information Center through an official statement said that Rizki was also confirmed in the inauguration. He now officially holds the status of First Officer of the Indonesian Navy with the rank of Second Lieutenant (Letda).

"Of the 51 teenage officers, the outstanding national lifter Rizki Juniansyah was also appointed as the Officer of the Dikmapa PK TNI AL," reads the statement received by the TNI Puspen.

Head of the TNI Information Center Major General TNI (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah expressed his hope that the lifter who was born in Serang, Banten, would continue to record achievements at the international level.

Rizki will also take part in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand which will take place next month. In the biennial multi-pronged sporting event which he will participate in in the new class of 79 kilograms.

"Letda Rizky Juniansyah continues to be able to excel in the international arena to make the TNI, nation, and country that we both love," said Freddy.

Rizki Juniansyah previously received a special award from President Prabowo Subianto after performing brilliantly at the 2025 Weightlifting World Championship in Norway last October. At that time, the 22-year-old athlete made Indonesia proud by winning two gold and one bronze medals.

Rizki is the first Indonesian weightlifter to win an Olympic gold medal and is the youngest Olympic gold medalist in Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He performed outstandingly in the men's 79 kilograms class, winning gold in the clean & jerk class with a record of 204 kilograms and gold in total force through 361 kilograms. As for the snatch, Rizki won bronze after registering a lift of 157 kilograms.
