Verstappen's Chance To Win F1 2025 Is More Open After The Duo McLaren Disqualification

JAKARTA The opportunity that Max Verstappen has to lock up the 2025 Formula 1 (F1) world title is increasingly open after the duo McLaren, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, were disqualified at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The two teammates were disqualified for violating technical regulations. The skid block on McLaren's car was found to be below the minimum limit set by the FIA.

The issue made the second point in Las Vegas not count after the FIA conducted an investigation. This automatically gives Verstappen an advantage who is following them in the standings.

McLaren has already apologized to the two drivers for having to accept point sanctions at a time when the world champion race is entering a crucial phase.

"We apologize to Lando and Oscar for missing their points at a crucial time in their championship campaign after their two brilliant performances over the weekend," McLaren team head Andrea Stella said.

Verstappen won the Las Vegas race, followed by Norris in second place to widen the distance of points. The Piastri finished fourth to keep expectations.

However, the results have been officially canceled due to the technical violations referred to above. Consequently, the distance between Norris and Verstappen is now running low to only 24.

Piastri is certainly more upset because the points are now the same as the collection collected by Verstappen. Thus, the competition for the world champion is getting hotter with two series remaining.

"We also apologize to our partners and fans, whose support is very meaningful. Even though this result is very disappointing, we have remained fully focused on the last two races of the season," said Stella.

Norris currently sits in the top position with a collection of 390 points. Meanwhile, Piastri trailed in second place with 366 points, the same number as Verstappen's four-time world champion.

The next Formula 1 race will take place in Qatar on November 30, 2025, and Abu Dhabi on December 7, 2025. Norris needs to continue to climb the first podium in the two races if Verstappen doesn't want to defend his title.
