Real Betis Officially Extends Isco's Contract For The Next Three Years

JAKARTA - Real Betis officially announced the extension of the contract for an experienced Spanish midfielder, Isco until 2028.

The announcement comes in a spectacular way, when supporters at the Benito Villamarin Stadium raised a giant banner to honor the midfielder before the match against Girona.

"Betis and Isco have reached an agreement to extend the contract for the Malaga-born player until June 2028," the club said in a statement reported by ANTARA, Sunday, November 23.

Isco's previous contract will expire on June 30, 2027.

However, after going through negotiations for several weeks, both sides finally reached an agreement to extend the player's tenure for one additional season.

Previously, the 33-year-old expressed his happiness at playing with Betis.

This is one of the main factors behind the decision to extend his contract.

"I don't want to retire without winning the title with Betis. The contract extension is still uncertain, but it will be easy. Both Betis and I want to extend our journey together," said Isco, quoted from Mundo Betis.

"Hopefully this will last for years again. I want to play in a new stadium. I hope the club will soon reach an agreement on its construction. Playing in a new stadium will be a very important and extraordinary experience," he said.

This contract extension will also be accompanied by an increase in salary, as a form of appreciation for Isco's big contribution in the 2024/2025 season.

With the new deal, he will be one of the highest paid players at the club, on par with Antony who has received a salary of 7.8 million euros per season (around Rp. 149 billion) since being signed permanently from Manchester United last summer.

Isco, who was absent from injury for a long time, has now recovered and returned to the squad for the first time this season.

Since joining in 2023 as a free transfer after leaving Sevilla, the former Real Madrid midfielder has continued to show great influence in Betis' midfield.

Although the new contract is now in effect until 2028, Isco is said to still open up opportunities to last longer.
