Padel Officially Competed In The 2026 Asian Games

JAKARTA The Asian Olympic Council (OCA) officially included the padel as a sport (sports) which was contested at the 2026 Asian Games at AichiNagoya, Japan.

The decision was announced after the President of the International PAdel Federation (FIP), Luigi Carraro, met with the Director-General of OCA, Husain Al Musallam, in Kuwait last week.

"We are very pleased to officially welcome the International PAdel Federation and the Asian Padel as part of the family of the Asian Olympic Council," Husain said.

Padel is a new sport that has succeeded in demonstrating tremendous growth and energy around the world. This sport can inspire a new generation of athletes and fans.

The entry of the padel in the Asian Games reflects OCA's commitment to embrace new sports that are able to unite society and realize Olympic values.

FIP President Luigi Carraro with great enthusiasm welcomed the news that OCA had unanimously decided to recognize the padel as the official Asian Games sport.

"FIP will continue to work day and night for almost 100 national federations that we represent, developing this sport throughout the world," he said.

The President of Padel Asia, Tariq Zainal, said that the recognition from OCA opened a new chapter for padel in Asia.

"The entry of the padel in the Asian Games will provide an extraordinary stage for our athletes to showcase their abilities in one of the biggest sporting events in the world," he said.

The adoption of the padel as an official branch at the 2026 Asian Games by OCA is a major step towards global recognition, as well as paving the way for the potential entry of this sport to the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, Australia.
