Trial Results: Indonesia U-23 Defeated 0-3 From Mali U-23

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team lost to Mali U-23 with a score of 0-3 in a trial match at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, Bogor Regency, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, evening WIB.

The fragile defense at the beginning of the match and the barrenness of the final finish were the main factors in the defeat of the Garuda Muda squad.

Mali immediately appeared aggressive from the first minute and opened the scoring in the fifth minute. Selou Doucoure scored the opener with a header after taking advantage of the corner kick situation.

Indonesia U-23 threatened again after trailing 0-1. A number of efforts from Dony Tri, Mauro Zijlstra, Rahmat Arjuna, Ivar Jenner, and Rafael Struick made Mali's defense tight. However, the effort still failed to bear off the equalizer.

When Indonesia still had difficulty scoring, Mali again added the advantage in the 35th minute. Wilson Samake took an individual action past the Garuda Muda defense before making a fine final finish to bring the visitors 2-0 up. The score lasted until the break.

Entering the second half, Indonesia U-23 made changes with the entry of Wigi Pratama replacing Rahmat Arjuna who was injured.

Indra Sjafri's squad appeared more aggressive after the break, but was still unable to penetrate the disciplined Mali defense.

In the 55th minute, Garuda Muda got a chance through a free kick after Jenner was fouled. However, Dony Tri's shot still bounced over the bar.

On the other hand, Mali remains dangerous through counter-attacks. In the 73rd minute, Sekou Kone fired a powerful shot that Cahya Supriadi could still deny.

Although the mastery of the Indonesian U-23 ball increased due to the declining pressure of Mali, the problem of effectiveness is still an obstacle. Garuda Muda was able to penetrate the penalty box, but failed to convert the opportunity into a goal.

Reaching the end of the match, the concentration of Indonesian U-23 players decreased. In the aftermath, Garuda Muda's backline error was used by Moulaye Haidara to score Mali's third goal and close the match with a 3-0 victory.
