Lamine Yamal Calls Barcelona's Injury Report A Lie

JAKARTA - Lamine Yamal said many lies about her groin injury after helping Barcelona rise from three defeats in a 3-3 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League, Thursday, November 6, 2025, early morning WIB.

The 18-year-old has missed seven games for his club and country earlier this season due to public issues.

Some reports say he may need surgery, but since then he has started in Barcelona's last five games.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick said the matter still had to be resolved by Yamal, but the teenager had no bad effects against Club Brugge, scoring a stunning solo goal and providing assists for another goal.

"I'm fine. I try not to read the situation. Many have said about my injury and that I'm sad. It's all a lie."

"I want to work hard to get back to this level, when I feel the best and have the most fun," Yamal said after the game.

Barcelona trailed three times in a tense match at Jan Breydel Stadium, replying through Ferran Torres, Yamal, and Christos Tzolis' own goal in stoppage time.

Yamal's goal, Barcelona's second equalizer goal, came nicely when he controlled the ball outside the penalty box, passed one player, played a one-two pass with Fermin Lopez, and then finished brilliantly.

The Spaniard later became Barcelona's third goal creator, moved into the penalty box and released a cross that Tzolis turned into his own net.

"I'm glad Lamine is back at this level, but as I said as well, we don't know what will happen tomorrow."

"We don't know what will happen next week. What's important is that he is able to manage the situation he is currently facing because this is not easy."

"He has to focus on what he has to do, how he has to train, and the treatment. If he handles it properly, hopefully the injury will go away," Flick told a news conference after the game.

Yamal's goal made comparisons with Barcelona legend and current Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi, but he once again wanted to play it down.

"I can't compare myself to Messi. He has scored thousands of goals like that. I have to find my own way and hope to score more goals like that."

"I'm trying to do the best I can. The movement is going very fast and Fermin gives me the ball with a good click. I've controlled it and finished it," he said.

For the second time in two weeks, after he was ridiculed at the Santiago Bernabeu by Real Madrid fans, Yamal received an unfriendly welcome from the host supporters who ridiculed him in Belgium.

"I don't think it's a coincidence that they ridiculed me and not anyone else. If they ridiculed me, it was because I did a good job on the pitch. I'm not worried about that," he said.

Barcelona's draw at Club Brugge put them in 11th place in the Champions League standings with seven points from four matches.

Meanwhile, they remain in second place at LaLiga, five points behind Real Madrid ahead of the away game on Sunday, November 9, 2025, to Celta Vigo.
